Green Tips!

As an effort to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote sustainable living on campus, RGT will be posting weekly Green Tips on the residence listserv. Please check them out and for that week we challenge you to put these tips to action!

November 21^st: Now that the weather is getting cooler our instinct may be to turn on the heat. Instead, try adding an extra layer of clothes or using an extra blanket to keep warm while you sleep.


November 28^th: Did you know that the temperature should be 20 degrees Celsius when at home, and 18 degrees Celsius when you’re not at home or sleeping? Individual rooms in the townhouses have the option of turning off their heat when they leave their rooms.

Good luck on your exams and we hope you integrate some of these tips during the next few weeks!

Oscar Peterson Hall Plant Sale

If you're looking to decorate your residence room, purchasing plants is an easy start to that! Oscar Peterson Hall will be holding a plant sale in the lobby on Tuesday, October 25th from 11am to 2pm. 

Plants are $2, $5, and $10, and there are a range of kinds!

All of the plants are coming from the UTM Greenhouse and the money is donated to the United Way.

Good Food Box

Are you and your roommates tired of going to the grocery store and purchasing your vegetables and fruits? Need an easier method of getting your nutrients?

Residence is now promoting the Good Food Box, a service provided by Food Share that delivers fresh produce to your door! Boxes range from a mix of vegetables, fruits, and organics, and cost between $13 to $35!

Ask your Don for more details and place your order today at the Residence Service Desk in Oscar Peterson Hall :)

Planet In Focus

Looking for something to do from October 12th to 16th? Check out Planet In Focus, an environmental film festival in downtown Toronto! Various subjects will be explored such as, deforestation, coal mining, nuclear power, and food geography.

The Residence Green Team is a group of work study students and volunteers within the Student Housing and Residence Life Department at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Our goal is to raise awareness on environmental issues within residence and to educate students on how sustainable living can be achieved on residence.

We have campaigns and events throughout the year so please, don't hesitate to participate and see what we're up to! We truly believe little actions can make a big difference.
